School Accountability
New Hampshire needs a progressive anti-bullying and prevention law. Also, the key missing piece is the ACCOUNTABILTY factor which needs to be put into law. We needd checks and balances. Each school needs to document and report all incidences of bullying or harassment to the State Department of Education.
The Effects of BullyingBullying has ong-term and short-term psychological effects on both those who bully and those who are bullied.
ACCORDING TO THE BUREAU OF JUSTICE STATISTICS - School Crime and Safety:
46% of males, and 26% females have been in physical fights.
Those in the lower grades reported twice as many fights as those in the higher grades.
However, there is a lower rate of serious violent crimes in the elementary level than in the middle or high schools.
Teenagers say revenge is the strongest motivation for school shootings
A perpetrator's bullying behavior does not exist in isolation. The adults have allowed the bullying to continue. We need to involve school staff, students and parents in efforts to raise awareness about bullying, improve peer relationships, intervene to stop intimidation, develop clear rules against bullying behavior, support and protect victims and help the perpetrators.
